Schedule: Sunday June 11, 2023

Afternoon session: (2 PM to 5 PM) Guro Marc Denny will teach a blend of short staff material relevant to the street and to Dog Brothers Gathering type fighting.
This seminar will be limited to 25 students per day.
EARLY BIRD SPECIAL: Register by Midnight, June 1st and receive a FREE copy of the following videos:
From PTI: Warm up for Pekiti-Tirsia Spear.
From DBMA: Merge Theory for staff.
NOTE: Safety glasses are required to be worn during all classes. Training tools should be made of wood or polymer. If you plan on bringing your own training tools, please choose ones without metal parts and no points or sharp edges.
Recommended equipment:
A rattan staff will be needed for Sunday’s sessions; one of six to seven feet for the spear session and one about chest height for the short staff session. 9 foot rattan poles will be available for purchase at the seminar site, which will be cut down as needed.
You may also bring your own rattan pole, but please have the ends rounded over.
In addition, a rattan kali stick or polymer sword (with no points or sharp edges) will be needed for the third hour of the spear class, as this will focus on spear vs sword techniques.
Work gloves are also recommended. If you are not used to training for six hours a day with the types of tools used at this seminar, you would be wise to bring a pair. Mechanix Wear brand gloves have worked well for our students in the past and they have a wide variety of models available at most hardware stores.
We will be working outdoors in June, in a grassy field if the weather is good, or under the shade of the pavilion roof if needed. Please bring enough water or sports drink to sustain you for the day, plus sun screen, a sun hat and insect repellent, your personal prescription medications and a basic first aid kit.
