In this class we will be going over the basic framework from a preemptive standpoint.

Guro/Sifu Al McLuckie’s background includes Serrada under Angel Cabalas and Mike Inay, Pekiti-Tirsia Kali and Chinese Internal Martial Arts under Tom Bisio and Systema under Vladimir Vasiliev. He will be teaching his own material derived from Systema, Filipino and Internal Chinese systems.

NOTE1:  It is strongly recommended that those attending this seminar also register for the February 25th Zoom class with Tuhon Bill and Guros Bryan & Dean, as this class will act as an introduction to many of the movements and principles that will be taught  in June. RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT LIST:

Wooden or Polymer Staff/Spear Trainer: The minimum length for this is your own height, but the recommended length for a Pekiti-Tirsia spear is your height for the shaft, plus the length of your hand for the spear head. We will add colored tape to the top of your staff to mark where the spear head would be on a real spear. Metal training knives or spearheads are NOT allowed in class.

Polymer or wooden sword and knife trainers. Vulpes Training is the recommended trainer maker for PTI. Please contact them and ask for their PTI discount code.
https://www.vulpestraining.com/

If you wish to use wooden trainers at camp, they must be inspected at the beginning of each session for cracks and splinters, so you do not injure your training partner.
Metal training knives are NOT allowed in class.

GLOVES: A pair of lightweight, breathable gloves to prevent blisters during training are a good idea, (Mechanics Wear makes some lightweight, breathable models that should work well for camp).

WRIST BANDS: A pair of two inch wide wrist bands or sweat guards that can be used by you in summer weather for long periods of time are recommended. Many of the techniques in the Espada y Daga sessions involve sliding a rubber training knife across the wrist area to simulate a cut. A wrist band of some type of soft, breathable, non-irritating material will help prevent friction burns or other abrasions. (Note: You will be asked to remove your watch or metal jewelry from your wrist during class. This is to prevent damage to an expensive item and potential injury to your training partner).

WRITING GEAR: A notebook and pen for taking notes.

WEATHER GEAR: We are likely to be outdoors during some parts of the camp, if the weather permits, so please bring appropriate sun protection gear, such as a sun hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent and at least one gallon of water or sports drink per day.

See you at the camp,
Tuhon Bill McGrath

CANCELATION POLICY Cancelations after May 2nd must show proof of a verifiable emergency if you want a full refund. In place of this, you may ask for a credit for next year's camp. No videos or spear trainers will be given for canceled registrations.

VIDEO POLICY: The participents of this camp are forbidden from taking videos of the instructors or other participents of this camp, without their express permission at the time the video is recorded. You may take an occational still photo during camp, but please ask permission first.
